Robson Ranch Choir understands “Why Music?”
September 15, 2019

Well folks the Robson Ranch Choir has begun rehearsals, as of August 26, for the upcoming season.
Everyone is excited to once again dive into the learning of new, and the refreshing of known, music.
They enjoy the learning process so much because they get it.
What do they get? They get the following. Recently, I was sent this by a music teacher. The author is listed as unknown.
WHY MUSIC?
1. Music is a science.
2. Music is mathematical.
3. Music is a foreign language.
4. Music is history.
5. Music is physical education.
6. Music develops insight and demands research.
7. Music is all these things, but most of all, music is art.
That is, “Why Music”, not because everyone is expected to major in music.
Not because you are expected to play or sing all your life, but because you will be human. So, you will recognize beauty.
So, you will be closer to an infinite beyond this world. So, you will have something to cling to.
So, you will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more good, in short, more life.
The Robson Ranch Choir understands all the above and that is why so many enjoy being part of the choir.
They got it, they get it and they joyfully give it right back to the Robson Community.
Music is part of what makes us humans, human. Every culture has had music. Every past culture has also made music.
Musical instruments are among the earliest man-made objects ever found.
There are examples of instruments, such as the flute, being 37,000 years old and even older.
Music gets under your skin, creates strong feelings and creates lasting memories.
Of course, none of us can remember back to the beginning of music, (though some days we may feel that old), but the choir is ready to embark on a great new season of making our own music, a memory.
Here are some dates to remember through the new year.
First, remember we are a part of North Texas Giving Day, September 19. Since the choir is a 501(c)(3), and is always looking to keep costs down for members and patrons, we hope folks who enjoy the choir will give on this day. It is a huge giving day for your favorite charities in North Texas.
Details are found on our website rrmusicclub.org.
The choir will also have a couple tables at the garage sale on October 12 in another effort to raise funds.
If you want to donate your “give aways” to the cause contact Janie Farnsworth at 940-262-3401 after September 9.
Our first event will be the widely anticipated Scaryoke on October 25, followed by the ever-enthusiastic Veterans Day Concert on November 11.
Before we know it, the Christmas Concerts on the 21st and 22nd of December will be upon us
and shortly thereafter the annual New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance.
So, a fun-filled season is planned. Make sure you put these dates on your calendar so you will also have the opportunity for more life.
